4 Rax: We signed an R&B artist right before we signed Stalin; her name is Natay. She kickin up a lot of dust out here, she’s from East Oakland. We did a whole album on her. We never put it out though. We were actually trying’ to find a lane for her, and at that time the hyphy shit was poppin and no one was really looking for that R&B shit. A little bit more now; every since autotune, and all this shit has made niggaz, almost anybody can sing, Ya’ feel me. So there’s a lot of dudes singing, a lot of girls singing, but yea we did that. We worked with the artist Fam; an Incredible singer.

Kenny: Jimmie Reign.

4 Rax: Silk E; I don’t know if you know Silk E, She’s like a Bay Area Lauryn Hill. She tours with the group and stuff. We got a lot records with her we’re ready to release, and we got a lot of records with her that we’re working on right now. We about sign this cat from Sac, his name is Lover Boy, this guy is ridiculous..ridiculous; the dopest thing we’ve come across.

GODER: I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO HEARING IT “2015.” SO BASICALLY YOU GUYS ARE JUST GOING FULL PRODUCTION, WITH DIFFERENT ARTIST, PUTTING THEIR PROJECTS OUT, AND JUST GOING FROM THERE.

Kenny: We got our own projects too! “The Chop Shop.”

GODER: THAT’S A SERIES; CORRECT?

Kenny: Yeah, I mean we pretty much through with it; right now we’re at 2. We have a new one coming called “Under the Hood.”

GODER: SO YOU’RE DEVELOPING ANOTHER SERIES?

4 Rax: Well, I mean, we always kind of felt like we can run something into the ground, you know what I’m saying. So we did two installments of “The Chop Shop.”

Kenny: You never know, we might revisit that; ain’t no tellin when.

GODER: WELL THATS THE MOB SOUND THAT YOU GUYS HAD, AND THAT’S PROBABLY THE MAIN THING THAT YOU GUYS ARE KNOWN FOR, SO YOU DON’T WANT TO VEER TOO FAR FROM THAT. WHAT OTHER ARTIST; OUTSIDE THE BAY, HAVE YOU COLLABORATED WITH?

4 Rax: This cat in Atlanta name ZONE; he kind of reminds you of T.I.

Kenny: We ventured out a little bit, we did some shit with Devyn.

4 Rax: Niggas in Detroit, Niggas in N.Y.

Kenny: Yea: Young Bri, Alley Boy; we’ve touched with Niggas outside the Bay.

GODER: YEAH THATS WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT; THE MOVEMENT IS STRONG. WELL LET ME ASK YOU A FEW QUESTION: IN 2015, WHAT PROJECTS DO YOU HAVE COMING OUT? ARE YOU GOING TO CHANGE YOUR SOUND? AND ARE YOU GUYS FOCUSING ON MOVING TOWARDS A NATIONAL LEVEL?

Kenny: Well; you just asked us who we’ve worked with outside the Bay. We’re trying to

reach out, and network with some out-of-state, and different city artist. We got a few projects coming this year; first of all, ours! “Under the Hood,” it’s a little bit of everything. Showcasing what we can do.

4 Rax: Smooth shit; rough shit, hard shit, club shit, radio shit, Trap shit; Its a little bit of everything.

GODER: WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK ABOUT THE RAP GAME RIGHT NOW, AND WHERE DO YOU THINK ITS GOING?

4Rax: It’s cool. The independent shit is dope, because you cut the middleman out. So now it’s just about how much you want it. If you’re really really that hungry, and you’re really really trying to do it, You can do it.

GODER: WHAT ARE YOU GUYS DOING TO BRAND THE NAME; “THE MEKANIX” RIGHT NOW?

4 Rax: Thats one reason why we work with different artist; It’s still in the development stages, but we have a couple ideas we want to put out.

Kenny: Ya’ll could expect to see some of that this year.

GODER: SINCE YOU GUYS PRETTY MUCH HELPED J.STALIN OUT; WHY DON’T YOU GUYS DO A COLLABO WITH “LIVEWIRE,” AND THE “MEKANIX,” AS A SHIRT TO RELEASE, WITH ONE OF THESE NEW SHOES COMING OUT. THAT SOUNDS LIKE WHAT YOU SHOULD DO IN 2015.

4 Rax: That sounds like a good idea. We could’ve been doing the clothing, but we’ve always been “lead the way type niggas,” we weren’t trying to jump in somebodys lane.

GODER: THE KEY THING IS THAT WE MOVE AS A TEAM. IF YOU KNOCK ME UP I KNOTCH YOU UP; THAT’S HOW THIS THING WORKS. J.STALIN ALWAY TALKS ABOUT HOW THE BAY NEEDS TO STAY TOGETHER. THIS IS HOW WE DO IT! WE’RE ALL THE SAME, WE ALL MOVE THE SAME. WE MOVE AS A TEAM, WE WIN AS A TEAM. THAT’S WHY I’VE BEEN SO SUCCESSFUL; I GOT MIND MOTION IN ONE HAND, AND RICK LEE ON THE OTHER HAND. BUT I DEFINITELY WANT TO SAY I AM A FAN, I BEEN FOLLOWING YALL MOVEMENT!

Kenny: We’re working. Theres a lot of shit we haven’t pulled out yet, last year we didn’t even drop that record with Mac Dre. Nobody has Dre versus right now, but we have two. He used to pull up to High St; he used to come through, and party, he use to pull up.

GODER: LET’S TALK ABOUT DRE A LITTLE BIT, HE WAS IN OUR LAST ISSUE.

4 Rax: He was a good ass nigga, a solid dude. Just like when you meet with certain people; there’s something about them, they just resonate with you. It was like, ok this guy is cool, but he had a good vibe about him though, we even been out to his house a couple times.

GODER: WHAT WAS IT LIKE CHILLIN IN A ROOM WITH MAC DRE. LET THE FANS KNOW.

Kenny: It was funny, laughing. He was always smoking backwoods, he was smoking backwoods 10 years ago back in 2001. He was the first person I’ve ever seen smoke one.

GODER: SO YOU GUYS HAVE GROWN A LOT. WHAT KEEPS YOU LIKE BROTHERS?

4 Rax: Just being 100 with each other.

Kenny: Solid! Ya feel me. Throughout the time we had to cut a lot of people off, and we’ve lasted by keepin it 100, and solid with each other.

4 Rax: We’ve watched a lot of people. Most groups come and go, the list goes on. It’s crazy, Niggas cant stay together for some reason. A lot time it’s that money.

GODER: IT CAN BE THAT, THE DEVILS ALWAYS WORKIN.  WHICH MAINSTREAM ARTIST ARE “THE MEKANIX,” LISTENING TO RIGHT NOW?

Kenny: Ross!

4 Rax: Jeezy, Wiz, Snoop; We’re big fans of music period.

GODER: WHAT OTHER TYPES OF MUSIC DO YOU LISTEN TO, OTHER THAN RAP?

4 Rax: Country, from what I do know about. Ol’ School all day and night. We listen to old school all day and night. We’re remaking a lot of that though.

GODER: ANY SHOUT OUTS BEFORE WE GET UP OUT OF HERE.

Kenny: To the family, the fans, and the kids.

4 Rax: Everybody that supports what we’re doing, we’re not the vocal ones that show up looking for praise, and needing a pat on the back; We carry a lot of people on our backs. We feed a lot of mutha fuckas. It’s good, We’re humble. We’re just trying to work something out, so keep supporting us.
